Change and the Ability to Cope with Change: When to Accept, When to Reject?
Abstract
When is it appropriate or not appropriate to reject a new software, updated version, or platform? The answer is unsurprisingly complex and dependent on particular circumstances. This article reviews and discusses several computer software and hardware products librarians may encounter, including those made by Microsoft, Apple, Dell, SirsiDynix, LexisNexis, and others, assessing how users react to them and whether or not these reactions are justified. Furthermore, this article is about the relationship between librarians and their software and hardware providers.
